Finding the Quiet

Children zig zag around me throughout the day.  I get dizzy with their activity and their demands.  My day can get lost with the things that have to get done and things that just creep up.  Before my daughter was born I used to spend the early mornings crying out to God and waiting for him to speak to me.

Now my day starts earlier and the business invades it.  My moments with God include whispers of thoughts in the van, prayers for protection while I nurse my newborn, and fleeting murmurings of pleas for help.  I am feeling out of sorts and lost without my stretches of quiet moments with God.  My prayer today is to simply make the time to find the quiet.

Join Ann Voskamp today as she encourages us to listen for God.

Can I just say...Amen?????

Incidentally...apropos of nothing...We are in the process of trying to do what we need to do to make it the right time to ask God for #4. Things like teaching the developmentally delayed 3-y-o to talk, so we don't have THREE babies at once. :/

praying for the quiet... for time ot listen. for time to hear. his is such a quiet one sometimes, i think, to force us to stop and be still. when i had just one, it was easy to stop when i nursed or whatnot, but also easy ot allow that time for internet or reading or tv. now that i have 3 the din seems ever-loud, and all i want all day is quiet.. but my own.
these are good words to read today.

I pray for the desire to find the quiet, because sometimes I'd just rather vegetate you know? Or eat cake.
I felt challenged by your post today, thank you for writing this. Myrtle's Turtles is a hilarious name by the way! Love it!

Hi JoAnn, I know what you mean about vegetating. I remember just rushing through bedtime routines so I could tune out in front of the tv, That is one of the reasons why I gave it up. Thanks for stopping by everyone!
