Journey to Gratitude

On Saturday, my family and I went to the Cobourg Sandcastle Festival.  It was a busy day.  Everyone was worried about getting there early and the traffic.  My mom and I decided to take the winding route.  As we drove we chatted about how great it was to not worry so much about the destination.  Living near big cities we are always talking about how long it takes to get to places.  Our inclination is to rush the journey.  We found a way to enjoy the journey as much as the destination. I wanted to give thanks for those things that we hear/see often but overlook even more.

Thank you God for:

-rolling hills that keep you guessing
-Ella-Shilloh's long nap in the car
-farmers that keep us fed
-our 10 year old van that gets us from adventure to adventure

-fresh eggs and blueberry picking signs
-old barns that dot our journey

-mustard yellow fields with mystery crops
-animals that bring smiles to the children
-hill top views
-sand
-chip trucks with "newfie fries" (fries with stuffing and gravy- who knew?)

Thank you Lord for the everyday, the winding road, and a journey that keeps us guessing!

myrtle, good to see you again! what a fun list... it's so true, we often lose sight of that which is very before us!!!
(side note: those sandcastles are fascinating!!)
newfie fries... stuffing, is that like thanksgiving stuffing and gravy?!?! who knew, indeed!!
and farmland takes me to my roots, takes me home and as normal and plain as they may be, i will never tire of rolling hills and mystery crops.
love your list and celebrating blessings w/ you!

It's always a blessing to be able to slow down and enjoy the journey. Your destination looks quite fun, too! That castle is amazing.

Yes it's comforting. :) I was just over admiring your blog yesterday! What a wonderful surprise that you "stopped by"!
You have such a beautiful family! I was blessed by your story about the number 18! I laughed because that is exactly the way I would have felt (on 6/6/6) Our God is so amazing and loving to see our worries and turn them into such a blessing! He's the Lord of the universe - I have to remember that I have no need for "superstitions" (but they still pop right into my head!) LOL -
P.s. I love the name of your blog - one of our nicknames for Malachi (our littlest)was turtle when he was first born and then when I had tons of nursing issues - he is now "snapping turtle" lol :)
So from one mamma of turtles to another -
Blessings and Love
